Why the 5G Strategy Is at the Heart of Everything We Do at CCA
As a parent, you want the best for your child. You want them to grow up with confidence, kindness, and a strong sense of who they are. You want them to know right from wrong and to have the courage to act on it. And honestly? You probably hope school helps with that, not just the academics.
That's exactly the kind of education we're building at Christian Crossroads Academy (CCA).
We use a model called Classical Christian Education. It's been around for centuries, and there's a good reason it keeps coming back. It doesn't just fill kids with facts. It shapes who they are. And at CCA, we focus that shape around five key qualities we call the 5G Strategy: Grit, Gratitude, Generosity, Growth, and Grace.
Let me walk you through each one, and why they matter so much for your child
Grit: Teaching Kids to Push Through
We live in a world of shortcuts. Fast food, fast answers, fast entertainment. But the best things in life still require hard work, and our kids need to know that.
At CCA, we give students real challenges. They memorize Scripture. They study Latin. They wrestle with great books and big ideas. Not because we want to make things hard, but because we want them to discover something important - that they can do hard things.
When a student finally masters something they struggled with, something changes in them. They stand a little taller. They trust themselves a little more. That's grit. And it's one of the greatest gifts a school can give a child.
James 1:3 puts it simply: the testing of your faith produces perseverance. We believe that's true in the classroom too.
STUDENTS
► Keeps working on a tough assignment after getting it wrong the first time; without being told to try again.
► Says “this is hard, but I’m going to figure it out” instead of “I can’t do this.”
► Finishes a long-term project without cutting corners, even when it gets tedious.
► Returns to a failed attempt: a math problem, a piece of writing, a skill, and tries a different approach rather than giving up.
► Asks for help when stuck, then keeps going on their own rather than waiting to be carried to the finish line.
Gratitude: Raising Kids Who Appreciate, Not Expect
Have you ever watched a child tear open a gift and toss it aside before the wrapping paper hits the floor? Entitlement doesn't happen overnight — it builds slowly when kids aren't taught to notice what they have.
At CCA, gratitude isn't just a lesson. It's a way of life. Students study history and start to appreciate the sacrifices others made for their freedom and faith. They learn science and discover the stunning design behind every living thing. They read great literature and find beauty in the stories of real human struggle and hope.
We start each day with prayer and Scripture. Not as a routine to check off, but as a reminder that everything good in our lives, including the ability to learn, is a gift from God.
Kids who grow up grateful become adults who are humble, kind, and joyful. That's the kind of person we're working to raise at CCA.
STUDENTS
► Spontaneously thanks a teacher, classmate, or parent; not because prompted, but because they noticed something worth appreciating.
► Pauses during prayer or worship and genuinely engages, rather than going through the motions.
► Connects something learned - a historical sacrifice, a scientific wonder, to real appreciation for what they have.
► Keeps a grateful attitude on a hard day instead of complaining and can name at least one thing that went right.
► Writes a thank-you note, sends a message, or verbally acknowledges someone who made a difference with specific detail, not just a generic thanks.
Generosity: More Than Giving Money
When most people hear "generosity," they think about dollars. But generosity is so much bigger than that
It's stopping to help a classmate who is struggling. It's using your strengths to serve others instead of just yourself. It's listening well, encouraging others, and choosing to put people before your own comfort.
At CCA, students learn that knowledge comes with responsibility. The more you're given, the more you have to offer. We look at historical figures and biblical heroes who gave their lives in service to others, and we ask students a simple question: How will you use what you've been given
Jesus said it plainly in Acts 20:35 it is more blessed to give than to receive. We want our students to not just know that verse, but to live it
STUDENTS
► Notices a classmate struggling and offers help without being asked.
► Gives up free time, a turn, or a preferred seat to serve someone else - cheerfully, not grudgingly.
► Uses a personal strength (art, math, writing) to do something for someone else rather than only for themselves.
► Shares materials, answers, or resources with a peer who needs them, without keeping score or expecting something in return.
► Volunteers for a task that nobody wants: cleaning up, helping set up, supporting a classmate who is behind, without being asked.
Growth: Loving to Learn, Long After Graduation
Here's something that sets Classical Christian Education apart from a lot of what you'll find today: we're not just trying to get kids ready for a test. We're trying to get them ready for life
Students at CCA move through three stages of learning. In the early years, they build a strong foundation of knowledge. In the middle years, they learn how to think critically - how to ask good questions and spot weak arguments. In the high school years, they learn how to communicate truth clearly and persuasively.
At every stage, the goal is the same: become wiser, not just smarter.
We also want students to fall in love with learning itself. Because the world is changing fast. Artificial intelligence, new technologies, shifting careers; your child will face challenges we can't even predict yet. The students who will thrive are the ones who know how to keep learning, keep adapting, and keep seeking truth.
A classical education doesn't just prepare kids for what's ahead. It prepares them for anything.
STUDENTS
► Asks a follow-up question in class - not for extra credit, but because they genuinely want to understand more deeply.
► Picks up a book, article, or topic outside of school because something sparked their curiosity.
► Reflects on their own work and identifies specifically what they would do differently - without a teacher pointing it out first.
► Welcomes correction or feedback from a teacher or peer and uses it to improve rather than dismissing it or getting defensive.
► Sets a personal learning goal — a skill to develop, a subject to explore, a habit to build — and takes concrete steps toward it.
Grace: The One That Changes Everything
We've saved the most important one for last
All the grit, gratitude, generosity, and growth in the world won't add up to much without grace. And grace is at the very center of the Christian faith.
At CCA, grace shapes everything — the way teachers talk to students, the way students talk to each other, and the way we handle mistakes. We set high expectations because we believe in our students. But we also know that none of us are perfect, and that's okay
Students learn that their worth isn't based on their grades or their performance. It's based on the fact that they are made in God's image. That truth creates an environment where kids can take risks, make mistakes, and grow without fear of being defined by their failures.
And as students experience grace, they get better at giving it. To friends. To siblings. To people who are hard to love. That's a skill that will serve them in every relationship for the rest of their lives.
STUDENTS
► When wronged by a classmate, chooses to forgive and move forward rather than hold a grudge.
► Encourages a peer who failed or struggled, rather than pulling away or making it worse.
► Admits their own mistake openly and takes responsibility, without making excuses or blaming others.
► Includes a student who is left out or sitting alone, treating every person as someone worth knowing.
► Responds to a teacher’s correction or a peer’s criticism with humility rather than defensiveness, and thanks them for caring enough to say something.
Why This Matters for Your Family
If you're looking for a school that will prepare your child academically — CCA does that. But if you're looking for a school that will help shape the kind of person your child becomes, we'd love to talk.
The 5G Strategy isn't just a list of nice ideas. It's a framework for building young men and women who are ready to lead with courage, serve with kindness, and live with purpose.
We believe the best days for your child are ahead. And we'd be honored to walk that road with your family.
