Parents, a Headmaster’s Perspective on Classical Christian Education

Paul Fisher, Headmaster of Capstone Classical Academy

When we hosted one of our CCA Vision Nights, we were honored to welcome Paul Fisher as a guest speaker. Paul is the Headmaster of Capstone Classical Academy, serves in an advisory role with the Society for Classical Learning, and is also a trusted friend and fellow traveler in the classical Christian education movement.

Paul shared something that deeply resonated with many parents and grandparents in the room. He talked about how, over the years, he began to notice that many students—even in Christian schools—were not truly grounded. Their faith lived in one box, while the rest of life lived in another. School subjects felt disconnected. Learning felt hollow. And too often, Christ was treated as relevant only in chapel or Bible class.

Paul described this silence as “deafening.” When God is left out of history, science, literature, and math, students slowly learn—without anyone saying it out loud—that faith doesn’t belong in real life thinking. Classical Christian education offered Paul a different vision: one where Christ holds all things together, and where students are invited to love God with their whole mind.

He shared how this approach shaped not only his own leadership journey, but also the lives of his three children—now confident, thoughtful adults who are thriving in careers, STEM fields, and public service, while boldly living out their faith.

In the short video linked here, you can hear Paul tell this story in his own words. What follows is an introduction to the Trivium, the time-tested framework that helps make this kind of education possible.
